Resources are Available to Protect Farmworkers

Protecting Oregon’s farmworkers will ensure Marion County’s agriculture community stays safe and healthy throughout the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic. Therefore, to protect the industry, keep farmworkers safe, and keep harvests going, various organizations have come together to provide support and help! Notify your workers to take advantage of the following resources available to them:
COVID-19 Testing is Available
Some farmworkers do not have easy access to healthcare, creating a barrier to access COVID-19 testing if needed. Free, confidential, and bilingual COVID-19 testing is now available in Woodburn for workers concerned about COVID-19. Upcoming testing dates are 9/1/2020, 9/8/2020, 9/15/2020 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Pre-registration is required. For more information, go to: http://bit.ly/WBTesting
Additional COVID-19 testing locations can be found at https://govstatus.egov.com/or-oha-covid-19-testing. If you are interested in more testing events in the future, or would like to request testing at your worksite, contact Marion County at health_liaison@co.marion.or.us
COVID-19 Sick Leave for Farmworkers
Some farmworkers may choose not to get tested or not to tell their employer about symptoms they may be experiencing because they are afraid of losing their wage. Luckily, financial relief is available to pay farmworkers ‘sick leave’ while they recover, preventing more potential infections. Farmworkers can call the Farmworker Relief Fund 1-888-274-7292 Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm or go to: https://workerrelief.org/
COVID-19 Return to Work
A negative test result is not recommended for employees to return to work. Employers should follow OHA guidelines for workers to return to work after contracting COVID-19. Recommendations can be found in:
COVID-19 Guidelines
Be sure to share these resources with your employees as it will help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and potentially prevent unnecessary disruptions to your harvest. To learn more, be sure to review the Marion County COVID-19 Farm Worksite & Housing Health & Safety Guidelines at

New Stipend Program for Small Businesses in Oregon

In partnership with the Oregon Latinx Leadership Network, the Nuestro Negocios project with PCUN is providing a stipend fund for small Latinx businesses and communities of color located in Oregon.

This stipend is purposed for businesses to attend workshops or seminars to improve their business and access resources while at the same time to receive compensation for their time.

We know that Latinx businesses have been one of the most affected by COVID-19 with little to no access to resources. Our goal with this program is for small businesses to gain access and knowledge on the information and resources that are coming out during these unprecedented times.

These funds are aimed at providing alternative sheltering for farmworkers across Oregon during the various harvests. Masks Available

The Oregon Department of Agriculture and Oregon State University (OSU) Extension are partnering to provide free KN95 masks to farmworkers, farmers, ranchers, fishers, food processors, and farm labor contractors to protect Oregon’s food and fiber workers. Covering your nose and mouth with a mask is an effective tool to protect yourself and others from the spread of COVID-19. Keeping Oregon’s agricultural communities healthy is critical in the ongoing response to the pandemic.
ODA and OSU have regionally staged free KN95 masks for the agricultural community. Please call ahead to schedule a time for pick-up as many staff are safely working from home.
